FG confirms death of 26 Nigerians on Mediterranean Sea
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the 26 bodies found in the Mediterranean Sea are the bodies of Nigerians.
The mission said that a Spanish warship, Cantabria, had brought the remains of the migrants to Port of Salerno, in southern Italy.
According to Tope Adeleye Elias-Fatile, a spokesman for the Ministry, Italian security officials have not yet confirmed whether they were killed or not and why all those who died were women.
He added that the chief of the police in Salerno, Italy, had conducted an investigation into their causes of death to determine whether they were subjected to torture or sexual abuse.
