Presidential panel on alleged rights violations by military begins sitting
The Presidential Investigation Group was established by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who reviewed the Armed Forces' compliance with human rights obligations and rules, which began in September and ended on Thursday in the southwest.
The Panel is reviewing allegations of incitement to civilians by officers and examining the extent to which soldiers are in compliance with the rules of engagement.
Is also investigating alleged violations of international human rights.
The group led by the Court of Appeal will also recommend ways to prevent violations in conflict situations.
Members are expected to consider cases of all geopolitical areas in Nigeria.
