HOW IBORI CHASE ECONET OUT OF NIGERIA

Masiyiwa chief executive and co-founder of Econet Wireless, said that former governor of Delta State James Ibori ask him to provide a $9M bribe.

According to Masiyiwa blog, London baseZimbabwe said the former governor threatened to chase him and his business out of Nigeria if he could not succumb to his request

In  his world,"When I was told that our company had to pay a total of $9M in bribes to senior politicians (in government), who help raise the money to pay for the license fee"

I refuse to authorise the illegal payment. Meeting upon meeting was held to try to let me agree to their demand but i refuse. As long as Econet is the operator, I have the right to sign and not to sign or to pay and not to pay. The ex governor of delta state then ask me to pay $4.5 Million to his personal capacity. He was one of the most powerful person in the country.

When he heard that i refuse to approve the payment, he send me a threat message "pay orI will chase you and your people oout of the country" but I still refused. The shareholders met and voted Econet Wireless Nigeria out of management.

Ondo police arrest two for attacking Igbokoda monarch
